John Gallagher anticipated the importance of video in lighting design and brought one of the first High End Catalyst Media Servers to Ireland. Since then he has been a leading agent in delivering integrated lighting and video design, which is now commonplace on many productions. John Gallagher Productions Ltd continues to lead the way in this area and has a High End Catalyst System in-house as well as access to, and operators trained in the use of, some of the other foremost systems available, such as Hippotiser.

Having initially gained an Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, at Queen’s University, Belfast, John later studied specifically in television at both the BBC Training Centre, Evesham as well as with manufacturers such as Philips / Tomson. As a Vision Engineer and later Resource Co-Ordinator (Vision Supervisor / Lighting Director) in BBC Northern Ireland and Lighting Vision Supervisor in BBC Television Centre in London, John’s experience is huge and varied in all areas of picture-making and quality, as is his wealth of contacts in this area. It is this experience and network of contacts that allows John Gallagher Productions Limited to offer vision engineering services that will not only enable your production to use the latest in television technology, but also to provide the greatest standards in television pictures.
